ok let’s talk about six of crows. of the main characters alone there is:

- a physically disabled boy who suffers from severe PTSD
- a dark skinned middle eastern-coded girl who was a victim of sex trafficking but escaped and vowed revenge on all sex traffickers
- a bisexual-coded girl who is explicitly described as being larger and not stick-thin but is still described as beautiful, sexual, and incredibly powerful
- an explicitly bisexual dark skinned POC boy who ends up in a m/m relationship
- an explicitly gay boy who is looked down on by his family for severe reading and learning disabilities but who instead becomes and incredible scientist and musician

And Matthias, the only cishet white guy and his whole arc is him unlearning all the toxic ideologies and poisonous lies he’s been fed since he was fucking twelve years old?? He did something that most cishet white guys couldn’t do; admit they were wrong and tried to open their minds and defend the people they once hurt. Kaz - Owner - Makes the best damn brew and no one can figure out his secret

Inej - Fastest Barista - Never gets anyone mixed up, always says the names right, every drink is artful and precise

Nina - Chalkboard Queen - Creates the fanciest menu boards, hands down

Jesper - In House Musician - Treats the place like a personal concert hall, but the customers never have anything to complain about as he works his magic. I picture saxophone, but anything jazzy for sure. 

Wylan - Camping Hipster - Is there every day, sun or rain. His ‘spot’ is at the back conveniently located near the small stage in the corner for the musician. Pretends to draw, but we know what he’s really doing.

Matthias - Stock Boy - Doesn’t actually like coffee, let’s everyone know it, but refuses to quit. Everyone knows why. 

Kuwei - Most Complicated Order - Rich kid who comes in daily, tries ordering the most confusing drinks to screw up the baristas and get their drink free. Inej takes it on and gets it every time, to his dismay. Flirts with the musician, to Wylan’s dismay. Secretly lonely and just needs a place to chill. 

I can’t stop. Send help.

Nina is in charge of the pastries, but in order to actually have stock to sell, she has to be watched. But she has become clever in concealing a few here and there and waiting until she can sneak away to consume them.
